Sign up for Petersfield Mini Rugby Workshop
02/06/2011
Petersfield RFC seeks boys and girls aged between 5 to 11 to sign up for its annual mini rugby workshop on 12-14 August. The mini workshop is 17-years old this year and shows no sign of wavering in its goal to bring rugby to the boys and girls of East Hampshire, and beyond.
The workshop has attracted hundreds of players to the club over the years. It has proved to be hugely enjoyable for players and parents alike, with an average of over 140 participants every year. The workshop has been a great gateway to a lifelong involvement in rugby by introducing boys and girls aged 5-11 to the game while enabling existing players to consolidate their skills.
Many players who have started their rugby at the workshop have gone on to greater things, such as: Newcastle Falcons wing and England Sevens player Charlie Amesbury; his fellow winger the Richmond and England star, Fiona Pocock; and Hampshire U20 Captain and England Counties U20 player, Joe Atkinson.
The sessions at Petersfield RFC, Penns Place, run from 10.00am to 12.30 pm, each day. Boys and girls from under 7 (applicants born after 01.9.2005 cannot be accepted) to under 12 will be supervised over the three days by RFU-qualified coaches from the club. However, there is no reason for the under 6s to feel left out as the club will be running a special taster sessional on Sunday 14th. In addition to coaching geared towards both complete beginners and those with some experience, all players will receive a FREE rugby ball and soft drinks.
At the end of the Sunday workshop, there will be the presentation of the rugby balls to each player and the Petersfield RFC Prize Draw where one lucky participant will win a bicycle. Families are welcome to watch the fun and enjoy the facilities; the Club House will be open for tea, coffee and snacks on all three days. In addition there will be a barbecue and PRFC club kit available for sale.
From its inception in 1927, Petersfield RFC quickly developed a reputation as a highly hospitable venue for sport and this reputation remains as strong today as it was 80-years ago.
