Before Christmas six girls at The Royal School entered the Rotary Club’s competition, submitting poetry and prose on the Olympic theme. Their entries have been very successful with two first prizes awarded to Alice Reynolds (Year 9) and Bryony Streeter (Year 8). Runners up included: Danielle Austin, Jessie Carpenter, Lucy Gavan and Natasha van Heerden (all Year 8). All of the girls mentioned will have their work forwarded to the District level of the competition, which embraces most of Surrey and West Sussex. Congratulations to the girls and we shall keep our fingers crossed for the next level!

Pre Prep with Mr Charles Darwin!

The children in The Royal School’s Pre Prep have also been busy taking an enjoyable outing to the Natural History Museum. The coach whizzed through the London traffic arriving at the museum on time. The children then enjoyed wandering through the dinosaur area and were suitably impressed by the life-sized roaring, moving T-Rex! After lunch the children went to the earthquake centre and experience what it might be like in a supermarket during an earthquake. This was followed by some time in a "hands on” centre where they could touch, measure and examine real specimens. Their last visit was to the Blue Whale gallery to marvel at all the various mammals on display. Finally they went to the shop to spend their pocket money and choose a small gift as a reminder of their visit.
