| Knitting for Queen and country, Liss knitters raise money for charity |
Knitters in Liss are busy knitting jubilee celebration bunting while at the same time raising money for charity.
The idea came to Hilary Rowles, owner of local yarn shop Liss Wools, when she was thinking about how to dress up her shop for the jubilee.
"I thought about asking the ladies who come to my regular Knit and Natter groups to lend a hand knitting the many triangles that will be needed to make bunting to decorate the shop during the Jubilee celebrations and the Olympics. I decided that as an incentive, for every triangle that was knitted, I would would make a contribution to a local charity, The Rosemary Foundation which provides care for terminally ill cancer patients.
"The response has been very positive. The ladies have responded enthusiastically to the idea of raising money for charity and are already busy knitting," said Hilary
Should anyone wish to knit or crochet bunting, Liss Wools has a free pattern. All donations of bunting will ensure a donation is made to The Rosemary Foundation.
