Children from Class Three as Anglo-Saxon warriors ready for battle
|
Children from Class Three arrived at school as Anglo-Saxon warriors ready for battle with their shields. They spent the day learning about Anglo-Saxon life from a visiting ‘thane’ from Cissasora (Chichester).
The pupils interviewed their visitor, drew pictures of him and the artefacts that had been brought in.
The high light of the experience was enacting a battle using their beautifully made shields to protect themselves.
Also, following the success of their November concert to raise funds for the St Mary’s Bramshott roof appeal, musicians from Churcher’s College Junior School were invited to entertain guests at the Church Centre’s ‘Lunch Break’ on 18th January.
Fourteen musicians from Year 6, accompanied by Head of Music, Sue Bint, performed solo items in a variety of musical genres to a most appreciative audience. The children are busily preparing for the school’s Spring concert, the Petersfield Music Festival, and Associated Board Music exams, which will be held at the school in a few weeks
